I enjoyed reading Elise Wu’s ” out patients” because it rather felt as if I was reading her own diary or a personal narrative ; which differs her study from those we’ve read previously . This is an advantage in her case because telling her own story from her point of view of how she dealt with such a harsh condition allows her to enlighten those who are clueless about it first hand. In her study she discusses her illness known as factitious disorder (FD). The structure of how her study was set up however was not in my favor . For example when Elise was discussing her research and Reading off comments off of a blog side tracked me. It wasn’t as engaging as it would’ve been if she interviewed a couple of people who suffer from the same disorder as her. In my opinion overall this was a well written and descriptive study but only for those that have some relation to the disorder , however it was not as engaging as the previous two studies we’ve read .
